School Closure Notice

All Littleton Elementary School District schools will be closed on Thursday, April 26 and Friday, April 27, 2018. For additional details, we invite you to read through the school closure notice and FAQs listed below.

Important Message From Our Superintendent

There has been a great deal of media coverage and social media activity about the Arizona Educators United #RedforEd initiative involving teachers and others engaged in activities to bring attention to the issue of low public education funding in Arizona.

Teachers and community members have joined their voices to this cause. You may have seen groups of staff assembling on public sidewalks near our schools and then walking into their schools to begin the day. The walk in gatherings have been before school and did not have an impact on the regular school day. We want to commend our teachers for the professional way they have handled themselves and for the respect they have shown our students and families.

Governor Ducey has proposed a plan that would provide teacher pay increases and help provide funding for District Additional Assistance (DAA). DAA provides monies for capital items such as buses, buildings, computers, textbooks, and classroom materials. The Arizona State Legislature will need to draft legislation and vote on the governor’s proposed budget before next year’s funding is assured.

According to social media posts and media reports, the Arizona Education Association and Arizona Educators United #RedforEd organizers have suggested a potential school walkout. We are working to find alternatives that will support our teachers, but avoid disrupting the school day for students.

We strongly encourage you to please read Superintendent Freeman's letter in its entirety.

Safety

The parking lot in front of the school is a dangerous place to drop off your child in the morning, especially if you stop the flow of traffic. The safest way to keep your child from harm is to park and walk your child across the parent drop-off lane using the crosswalk. If that doesn’t work for you, please pull into the daily drop-off lane along the curb. Help us keep the traffic flowing, direct drivers to parking spaces, and get students to the crosswalk. For more information, call (623) 478-6200 and speak with our administrative assistant, Cathy Jimenez, in order to volunteer today. Safety is the responsibility of all!

Health and Wellness

Get Fit is all the rage here in Littleton. We have a robust program growing by leaps and bounds to provide opportunities for physical activity to our students.

  • Our district coordinator, Ryan Dennard, goes to each school in the district providing education about how to safely incorporate athletic and strength training techniques into young lives.
  • We celebrate physical activity, and we encourage students to move their bodies when appropriate to experience the benefits of physical activity.

With summer approaching, we will provide students with the skills and knowledge to take their activity into the break safely. They might even teach you a thing or two!

Tax Credit Information

Reduce your Arizona state tax by contributing to Littleton Elementary District schools! The state of Arizona allows taxpayers to take advantage of wonderful tax credits. Please consider donating to the Littleton Elementary District schools. Simply download, print, and return a form to the district office or any one of our schools today. Our goal is to double the amount collected last year. We need your help to accomplish this! Remember, a tax credit is better than a tax deduction.

SOAR Hour Program

One of the most important goals of our staff at Estrella Vista STEM Academy is to help students establish the necessary and beneficial skills that will ensure their success as life-long learners. To help us facilitate this goal, we will implement the SOAR Program. Please take a few moments to learn more about this program by reading the SOAR contract in either English or Spanish.
