Reopening Information

Dear EV Families,

We are so excited to welcome our Hawks back to the nest once again! On March 22 we will begin in-person learning and will continue dynamic distance learning for those students who selected that model. The health and safety of our students and staff are our top priority. For those families who elected to have students return to campus for face-to-face learning, below is some valuable information to help you prepare. Now, more than ever, we will need to work together to maintain a safe learning environment for our EV students. Please review each of these in their entirety.

We also want to make sure our students return to a warm and inviting learning environment. For instance, facemasks and social distancing will be mandatory, but our students will be able to eat lunch in the cafenasium and enjoy recess outside. Here are a few additional processes we would like to share with you.

Before leaving for the bus or school

Screen your child for signs of illness prior to sending them to school. If your child shows signs of illness you are required to keep them home. If your child has a fever do not send them to school until they are fever-free for three days.

Make sure to bring the following items each day:

  • Face Mask and a Backup
  • Your Fully-Charged School-Issued Laptop and Charger
  • Individual Snack
  • Reusable Water Bottle
  • Headphones

On the bus

  • We will require all students, bus drivers, and monitors to wear a face covering.
  • Increased disinfection procedures will occur on a daily basis.

Arrival

  • Students may not report to campus before 8:25 a.m. We will not open gates until 15 minutes prior to the start of the school day. For your student’s safety and the safety of the staff please make sure that you follow this procedure.
  • When students arrive, they will report directly to their classroom.
  • In the front parking lot, it will be “drive-through drop-off” only. Parents may not walk students onto campus.
    School will start at 8:40 a.m.

During the Day

  • We require masks for all students and staff. Students are to wear their masks at all times unless they are eating breakfast or lunch.
  • In the classroom, we will enforce social distancing of six feet apart whenever possible.
  • Students will have recess on the playground. Students will be able to use the playground equipment and have access to playground materials. We will sanitize all equipment periodically throughout the day.

Lunch

  • We will provide warm lunches in our cafenasium or students may bring a meal from home. Students will eat in the cafenasium, physically distanced and facing one way.
  • We will follow the CDC’s “no sharing” guidelines with all food and drinks.
  • We encourage students who bring their lunch to use a disposable lunch bag.

Front Office

  • The front office will be open, however, we do still request that you make an appointment. We require masks for all visitors.
  • We will not allow parents/guardians and/or visitors beyond the front office.
  • We installed a dropbox in front of the school.
  • If your student will not be attending call the attendance line at 623-478-6202.

Health Office

  • The health office will continue to support students while they are on campus.
  • Families should report COVID-like symptoms or a positive COVID-19 test to the health office at 623-478-6295. We are also excited about our new partnership with Hazel Health which offers virtual doctor visits at school. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Hazel Health at 623-253-8733.

Dismissal

We will have a staggered dismissal for car pick-ups as follows:

  • Kindergarten: 3:20 p.m.
    • 1st and 2nd: 3:25 p.m.
    • 3rd and 4th: 3:30 p.m.
    • 5th–8th 3:35 p.m.
  • Parents must stay in their cars for pick up.
  • Cars must have their color-coded nameplate in their windshield. You will receive your nameplate on the first day.

Keeping our EV students and staff safe is a community effort. It is imperative that you monitor your child’s health and that you do not send your child to school if they have a fever, cough, sore throat, or other symptoms of illness. Although this is a challenging time, I am confident that our EV family will get through this together. Our staff is eager to begin in-person teaching. Please be patient as we establish some new and different processes to keep everyone healthy, safe, and ready to learn.
